Hello,

if we got a s-matrix with for example 4 ports, each port has its own port impedance. Several circuit AND field simulator offer the possibility to renormalize to a new s-matrix with different port impedances.

I already saw an algorithm in "Zinke,Brunswig Hochfrequenztechnik" and some other books, but they are all based on circuit theory, based on voltages and currents.

Lets take a more complex 80 Ohm transmission line as example. If I renormalize a port to 40 Ohm, will it give me the behaviour when connecting a 40 ohm line to my 80 ohm line. I cant believe that we can express the characteristic of such a transition (discontinuity) with the renorm-algo.

Thanks for any reply.
