regarding cross coverage

Could any one please tell me about cross coverage and why is it for.

a cross coverage provide product of two or more previously delated items

Identify the complex states (by looking the branches and the level combo
logic involved in state change) in FSM; sample all the active inputs in those state while
FSM is in that state, put a cross coverage for the sampled inputs.
