Hi, just want to ask how to program or simply the method of scanning reed switches connected in matrix form?

I got stuck in my sample circuit wherein I connected 4 reed switches in matrix form (that will be 2*2). I already researched about this but almost all of them were saying that it is the same with "keypad matrix". The problem is the programming part. Can you guys help me with this?

I'm using PROTON IDE as my programming tool and I'm using PIC16F877A for my MCU. I want to test that if a certain switch is closed, a corresponding LED will light up. A circuit diagram is included in here. MAny thanks!
