Why don't you try PIC18Fxx from microchip. This uC support USBv2.0 fullspeed and docs are full supported.
Otherwise, you can use TUSB3410 of TI. TI provide very completely all source code and driver.
PIC does not support high speed USB.
Cypress Chip CY7C68013A/14A does support High Speed USB.
Or you can try out FTDI2232H.
FTDI boards are very compact.
