reactive fields and radiating fields

Read an antenna textbook describing what happens in the radiating process.
In antenna near field, reactive fields exist in a close vicinity. Radiating field is developing in a farther distance and it travels away, carrying the radiated power as the electromagnetic wave. Reactive fields do not carry the power away.
