Hey there, I am basically modulating a PCM interleaved data using digital technique(PSK, FSK) in LabVIEW. I have read about RNRZ where it is said that the bandwidth needed for it is only 0.7 of the data rate. Now I know that for modulating the bits, we need I/Q symbols, do I have to bandlimit the RNRZ data first or do I have to generate I/Q symbols and then apply filter?

Because bandpass filters involve higher effort, baseband filtering is usually preferred, e.g. in Gxxx (gauss shaped) modulation schemes. Both is possible, however.

Whatr type of filters are usually preffered?

Depends on you spectrum specfication. Gauss shape will be usually approximated by a second or third order RC filter.
