problems with Microblaze design ... please help

Hi all,
I tried to create a simple project mapping the interrupt handler to a "push button" on my memec vertexII board, but it seems that I can't enable this interrupt, what I want is just to issue a simple interrupt when the button is pressed to activate a handler sending a message through the RS232.
Does anybody have any idea on how to do that, or is there any example (or a tutorial) showing how to activate interrupts using button ? , please help me if u could ...

There are few points to be note here....
1. Make sure that the interrupt is not masked. And note its priority!
2. Whats the nature of interrupt I mean level sensitive OR edge trigger or both??
3. You are using switch that mans you may need debouncing!!
