[General] problem with lcd backlight.......

i soldered lcd today...and checked and got black square boxes and blue backlight...i adjusted the pot on lcd but the contrast of black square boxes didnt change...i measued the voltage on VEE pin with multimeter its changes with change in pot but there is no change in contrast....is this normal
