PPM- Pulse position modulation.

Hey can any one give me idea about the PPM and other modulation schemes. I'm actually trying to learn from basics, I have some basic idea about modulation but no idea on the schemes.

The figures on pages 8 & 9 of the Fairchild NE555 datasheet show circuit schematics and sample waveforms for both PWM and PPM.

As you can see, in PWM the frequency is fixed while the duty cycle is proportional to the control voltage. In PPM the frequency is inversely proportional to the control voltage and the duty cycle is proportional to it while the time off is fixed.
