pll synthesizer wiki

Dear all,

What is the different between PLL and Synthesizer? What are they refer to? I am so confusing these two terms.

Thanks

уики pll synthesizer

PLL mean phase lock loop and we use term PLL synthesizer when PLL is working for a wide range of frequency

what are pll

I know the full name of PLL. Are PLL and synthesizer refer to the same things? Otherwise, what is the different between these two terms?

There are PLL Synthesizer , DDS Synthesizer , Direct/Mix Synthesizer ... We usually call a Synthesizer using PLL theory as PLL in brief ....

In sort,
Synthesizer is circuit responsible to synthesise the required frequency and it can be any one of the methods given above. it consists all the blocks.
PLL is circuit consisting of PFD, loop filter, VCO and scaling, dividers etc.
With out VCO and filter but the chip company calls as PLL chip (as this circuit is bulk/ cost/ non fesible etc reasons) because it is applicable for this topoloy.
