What's OLED?

can somebody explain OLED?

It is organic led.
This is a new class of led. It needs more voltage, 6-12?
Thay can be damaged by air, water...
Thay will be good for lcd display replacment.
Kodak and a few others hold basic patents.

Re: What's OLED?

Basically, Oled is a multilayer structure of organic materials, from which one is the emissive one. The materials are placed between two electrodes (one of them is transparent), which powers up the emissive layer, and there you go...light. As far as I know, the technology is in the early stage, because there are some problems with the blue emissive layer. The chemical structure of the emissive layer determine the colour, and so far, the tests on the blue type layer are ok, except the lifetime, which is around 6000 hours. In order to build a reliable full colour display, each primary colour (red, green and blue) must last min. 20.000 hours. We wil have to wait some, but it worth...the technology is cool, cheaper than plasma or TFT, low current consumption, low voltage (<10V), fast response time.

Re: What's OLED?

Now we can see the mobile with OLED planet.
From the opinion of IC, the driver chip of OLED is a good select with graphic management.
