pl2303 5v operation

Hi,
Just want to know if the voltage level at the output pin of PL2303 are of what kind?
TTL, RS232 etc..

pl2303 voltage

At one end it USB v1.1(0), at the other port it is the RS232 Serial interface.

usb serial port pin 1 pin 4 pl2303

the level is more or less TTL, depending on the supply voltage at VDD_232. From the datasheet:
VDD_232:
RS-232 VDD. The RS-232 output signals (Pin 1 ~ Pin 3) are
designed for 5V, 3.3V or 3V operation. VDD_232 should be
connected to the same power level of the RS-232 interface.
(The RS-232 input signals are always 5V~3V tolerant.)
So for a real RS232 connection an additional level converter (MAX232) is needed.

pl2303 vdd_3v3

Will the output of PL2303 can drive the FBUS TX/RX pins of Nokia phones directly without addional level converter?

This is what I'm thinking about..

USB Port ---> PL2303 --->FBUS (TX/RX) of Nokia Phone

Currently in using this setup..

Serial Port (COM1) ---> MAX232 ---> FBUS (TX/RX) of Nokia Phone

Is this possible?

pl2303 +ttl voltage

without guarantee, but i think it is possible. The signal's logic is correct and the signal's level can be adjusted by providing 3V to the VDD_232 pin. This corresponds with the voltage of the FBUS (RX/TX).
Unfortunately the PL2303 datasheet gives no details about the maximum current for the output lines (TX etc.), so i'd check the voltage levels if the Nokia is connected ...

Additionally this Prolific chip is commonly used in such adapter designs.

pl-2303 3.3v to 5v

VDD_232 is pin #4, can I connect it directly to VDD_3V3, pin #17?
Thanks..

pl2303 +ttl level converter

I don't know about that as the datasheet gives no information about the 3.3V USB supply. But I'd assume that there should only be a capacitor (100n?) at pin 17. So the safe way would be a small 3.3V voltage regulator. But you could also ask Prolific's support about this ....
