Hi all !

We are using a modified JDM Programmer (cct diagram attached). We have successfully programmed 6 different PIC ic's (those had internal oscillators). But now, we need to program PIC16F877A that doesn't have an internal oscillator.

We are using PICPgm to program. It fails to auto-detect PIC16F877A. WinPIC and IC-PROG also fail to program it.

Since we find the JDM Programmer convenient, can anyone please suggest what changes w.r.t the programming software should be done ?

where is the cicrcuit diagram?

Hi,

You do not say which chip you have programmed ok, though doubt having the internal osc makes any difference with Pics.

Are you sure the 877A is good ? - have you tried more than that one 877A chip ?

I've programmed them ok with WinPic, have you connected all 4 VDD and VSS pins ? perhaps try pulling the LV PGM pin to ground.
