PIC programmer (RS232 or normal serial - usb)

Hi all, do u guys know any serial or RS232 PIC programmer that is compatible with a usb to serial converter?
I cant find any usb programmer which is avaible for free.
Plz advice on that, thankx....

i know that, but i would liek to build one. Although it has the schematic, but i dun think its firmware is available.....
 

EasyProg / ProProg by Olin Lathrop :both are listed on **broken link removed** .
You can buy either, or make an EasyProg yourself.
(the schematics & layout are on the website).

Simpler circuit, you can also either buy or build.

They will work with a USB-serial converter because
they use the serial port in a conventional way, unlike
some simpler programmers (JDM-type, etc...) which
will almost certainly *won't* work with a dongle.

I would suggest you build a ICD2 clone then you can program and debug.
