Hello,

Does anyone know the difference between different periodic boundary conditions in HFSS. What is the difference between linked boundary conditions (Master/Slave) and PEC/PMC boundary conditions.

Which one is better to use for simulating the unit cell of the antenna? Master/slave or the waveguide simulator (A waveguide with PEC walls) ?

Thanks,

Hi Ben,

If you have HFSS installed on your PC go to the C: drive --> Ansoft --> HFSS --> Help. Inside you'll find a pdf tutorial guide named "HFSSFloquet". I think this should cover your questions.

Also from another HFSS tutorial "HFSS Help_Antenna" there is some explanation in section 4 under "Boundary Conditions"

Hope this helps.

hi
Master/Slave boundary are used for periodic structures that go to infinity but pec/pmc are used for structures that are electric or magnetic conductors,
in fact if im right, you have to use Master/Slave boundary because your structure is periodic!
