Hello There !

Is there any good reason to cut out all the layers underneath a standard 5x7 (25mhz) oscillator device ? I've seen this done in some designs, but currently space is very limited so I would like to route signals below it.

Thanks,

/Otto

It is not good advice to route to other signals under crystal which will effect both crystal and routed signals...

Ok, That is good to know. Thanks !

Presuming a ground plane on layer 2, what's against routing signals below it?

It should not be a problem as long as there is a solid (ground)plane between the signals and the Oscillator. It will isolate the noise.
