parallel port driver failure

hi all
i used parallel/JTAG cable to program SPARTAN 3 but i can not detect spartan now via iMPACT!what's happened?i did not change parallel port setting or other conditions.i checked all parameters and r seem good but i have many unkown target after running iMPACT.
i think my parallel port have a basic problem!
any help
tnx

usually, when install other software may be the reason to change the parallel port. reinstall the iMpact. The port driver is overlapped by others

Hello

Well this can be a bit of problem as it has happened with me. You must first check the parallel port driver and the parallel port it self, by connecting it with a printer for example.

If the parallel port is ok than either there is some thing wrong with the JTAG cable of the FPGA JTAG pins. I have seen both blown. Yes the JTAG cable can get damaged and the JTAG pins on the FPGA can damaged as well.

The best way to check this is to get another working JTAG cable( borrow maybe) ant try to connect to the FPGA, if it fails than you may have damged your FPGA and if it woks than you have a damaged cable.
