can an oscope do measurements on itself?

can you use the oscilliscope to measure its own power supply without damaging anything? its the only one i got and there is a function generator with it, but is seperate from the whole of the scope. also i was measuring a 24VAC line coming out of the transformer to the horizontal board. the measurement was not a perfect sine wave, it has a big wiggle on the peaks.
