Optical comm. question
Optical fiber/optical comm. systems are said to have a very high capacity compared to the others like microwave. Is it because optical systems transmit light signals which have a high frequency? But isnt the capacity related to bandwidth rather than frequency? In this context, when we have a bandwidth of 100 GHz with 10 THz as the central carrier freq., is it true that this gives the same capacity when we have the same bandwidth with 500 GHz as the carrier freq.?
