This is probably an incredibly stupid question but oh well. I have a battery, a motor, and a switch. Does it matter whether I put the switch on the red wire or the black wire? TIA

If that's all there is in the circuit, it doesn't matter. In a series circuit, the current is the same at all connections so opening any one of them with the switch will stop the current everywhere.

If the motor has a metal body or shaft, it might be connected to one of the motor wires so be careful it doesn't touch anything else.

Brian.

Thank you for your help.
