4 user nodes, need to connect to make a network.

1<------50 feet ---------->2 <-------200 feet ----------> 3

\ 300 feet

4

node 3 has telephone line .
how we can make a network for internet access through the telephone line.
My que is that what we use to connect these node because it is long apart distance . Switch , router . hub etc.

I think the connection may be done using twisted pair wire, as the UTP cables are not supported for distances more than 100 m

Here is the suggested network: (see the figure)

you will use a UTP cables with cat-5e, since the maximum distance is 300 ft ( < 100 m)...

you will use an ordinary switch, and router with modem.

The switch and router will be at node 3; node 3 is beside switch and router.

Note: if this helps you, please press "Helped me" at my reply area.

Hi dear

Thant is no problem u have 4 nodes right
ok

u must use :
1- Router

2- Switch 8-port (Put it in the middel distance if u can )

3- twisted pair cable (UTP) cat 5e but the best cat 6e (expensive) .

4- 8 RJ 45.

5- NIC (network interface card ).

any services dear if u have any problem send to me.

Thanx

CAT 6 cable supports upto 100mts. If it suits you, then go for switch and CAT6 cable.

can anyone explain why using router in it?:?:

wouldnt switch be enough???

Switch is enough in case of making LAN only and you will not going to access the internet by any way...

Router is needed in case of getting access to the internet as it is an essential stage before getting into the Web, as the router can read up to layer 3 which switch can not.

Is it really needed to use cat6? i prefer cat5e because i hear the cat6 is preferable for Gigabit ethernet. if you only need an transfer data not a streaming application i prefer using cat5e.
