I need a little help with implementing and testing a UART that I have designed.

I know to run the UART core on FPGA I will need to use HyperTerminal and then connect the FPGA through USB-UART of my Nexys3 FPGA to USB of my PC. But what I dont understand is which USB port on my PC I need to connect to. I mean there are 3 USB ports on my computer and HyperTerminal is showing 3 ports COM6, COM7 and COM8, but how do I know which one is COM6, which one is COM7 and which one is COM8. Is there any way to find out.

The Device Manager is also showing COM6, 7, 8 but no further information.

Please help me with this. Thanks

You can use the device manager to change the com port.
Just see to what com port the USB to UART connect
