Re: SMBUS AND CCS compiler

SMBUS is an extension of I2C (or TWI, as it is also called,
to avoid patent disputes with Philips). It has some special
limitations and special reserved addresses
SMBus added special broadcast messages within the I2C protocol. But
everything is still addressed the same way, so unless a device is actually
listening for the broadcast messages, they are benign.

Look into CCS forum https://www.ccsinfo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21456&highlight=i2c

or read the Microchip application note AN667 https://www.microchip.com/stellent/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=1824&appnote=en011076
