Do you know the frequency and modulatioin type (CW, AM, FM...)? If so, all you need to do is build a receiver with a shielded loop directional antenna. Depending on the frequency, you might even be able to use a common portable entertainment receiver with an external directional antenna. If you add a signal strength indicator, any directional ambiguity would be eliminated by simply observing the signal strength as you move a few steps away or toward suspected signal direction.

Radio Amatures (Hams) call this sort of thing "Fox Hunting". You might get some ideas by doing a Google search for "Ham Fox Hunting". You could also look for "radio direction finder schematic".

A few schematics I found were:

The specifications are:

* Transmitting frequency is 144MHz.
* Aerial radius of the antenna is 1km with a transmitting power of 0.5-1 W (approx)

and thank You for the responses.....
