It is an idea of a robot with track drive. For making this, two sets were used:
  • Tamiya 70097 Twin-Motor Gearbox Kit (motors with gears)
  • Tamiya 70100 Track and Wheel Set (track)
Housing was made of installation channel.
This is a simple to make device. You don't need to know electronics well, have an advanced workshop or specialistic tools. Everything you need to have is a soldering iron, some cables, screwdriver and five hours of free time.
The robot was made in module shape, with possibility of work as:
  • explorer
  • maze machine/bypassing obstacles
  • linefollower
  • sparing partner for mini-sumo (it is too large for mini-sumo)
Info about the robot:
  • power unit – motors with Tamiya gearboxes
  • track drive – Tamiya
  • length x width x height: 190 x 110 x 80mm
  • control Arduino Duemilanove + engine control of own development (self Shield)
  • Sharp sensor mounted on modeling server
  • power 4 AA batteries (2200mAh)
  • lighting: 6 x LEDs
  • housing: PVC
Things used in construction of the robot:
  • spray
  • hot glue
  • few drops of glue
  • pvc
  • 2 pens
  • installing channel
  • metal speaker cover
Features of the gearbox:
  • power supply: 3V
  • engine speed of motors at 3V: 12300rpm
  • current consumption without load 3V: 150mA
  • stop current 3V: 2100 mA
  • colour: grey
  • dimensions: 75 x 24 x 34mm
  • axle – mounting: 105mm (3mm hex)
  • weight: 71 grams
  • current: 0,5A (per engine) 3V
  • ratio: 58:1 or 204:1 (optional)
  • speed: 230 or 65 3V
  • torque (ounce-for-inch): 29 or 102 3V
