I need the service manual to be able to change the balance knob or find where i can have the parts.
It is a UK made preamp andthere is no representative to my knowledge any where outside UK.

I wouldn't have thought it was anything special. A lot of audio equipment uses ALPS pots. Have you taken it apart to identify it?
