Hello,

I am doing an electronic project about microcontroller-based prayer time clock system (Namaz). I want to design a Prayer Time Alert System which will helpful for ****** community.

I wish to doing this project with a PIC Microcontroller like PIC32, real time component (RTC DS1307) to calculate real time, ISD4003 or SD-card MP3 Player which can play Namaz audio file in 5 times, GPS module or Bluetooth Module which locate with precision the city of living and voltage regulator for power supply.

What kind of design did you advice for me to doing this project ? can you help me to choose components whom match with this project.

Kind regards

Well, you have listed down all the stuff that you want to use and their purposes either. But I just have one suggestion that if you are using a GPS module then you actually do not require an RTC, IMO. Because you can get the timing information from the GPS as well. Further, you must be aware that prayer timings change throughout the year. For which, I hope you can find the time map in some sort of excel or text file which you can use to play Azan audio at the right time. But these timings also change with position. So if you can keep yourself restricted to certain places then this project could be more practical. Otherwise you will have to maintain different text files for time map for different regions.

Else you can consider using SBC (Single Board Computer) which is a credit card sized computer, on which you can connect ethernet and get these informations over internet and play the Azan audio as required.

Hope that helps.

Thanks.

Use SChedular in your mobile.

Well, if Cell phone could be used then I think that Smart Phones and some other (Not So Smart) Phones also have applications that can do this work. :)

But I guess, he wants to design a project of his own.

Hello,

Thank you for all your replies and your information will useful for my project.

MSBR, yes i understand what did you tell but I want to design this project with a microcontroller or SBC like Raspberry or PC-Duino and GPS, RTC and compass will be used to determine real time, longitude and latittude of the location and compass for the direction of Makkah city.

As you said prayer time change, it's for that reason I want to use Bluetooth or Wireless module to get prayer time in excel format from internet.

What kind of design that you advice for this project

Kind regards

In my opinion, minimum number of components should be used. Because you would wish to make it portable and if you add redundant modules then it would make the project bulky as well as costly.

If you could find some way to get the bearing (angle) information from GPS as well as the current time then it would be better to extract those data from GPS rather than using RTC and Compass.

Hope that helps.

Thanks,
MSBR
