ntfs rpm for rhel as3

mount ntfs partition on RHEL AS 4 Update 8 failed, fs type not support by kernel, but this is the latest kernel from redhat for RHEL AS 4. People always mention " compile or recompile the kernel", do i have to do so to make it support ntfs, but how to, please give details, also is linux inherently not support ntfs?

you can install the rpm which can support NTFS.

where to get the rpm, on the linux disk?

You can compile the kernel to support it. Or download RPM from the following website.
**broken link removed**

Choose the appropriate RPM according to your kernel version number.
