Hi everyone,

I'm investigating a 2x2 MIMO antenna on a mobile handset, I need to plot on CST the mean effective gain (MEG) & envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), two very important parameters which can evaluate the diversity characteristics and MIMO performance of a mobile antenna system.

The paper I refer to is titled:
"A Novel Quad-Band Diversity Antenna for LTE and Wi-Fi Applications with High Isolation" and the curves I need look like this:

Any help on this would be appreciated, I'm trying to plot the above two curves in CST. Thanks!

you can plot the ECC easily using S- parameter approach. Just write the ECC formula in HFSS output variable window and simulate it..

I've been able to get ECC already, what about MEG?

Anyone know how to simulate MEG (mean effective gain) using HFSS.

There are no any option to plot MEG in HFSS but you have the option to get that value of MEG by using far field data in CST MWS.

Hi haribhuit,

Thanks for your reply, can you provide more details as exactly how to do this?

No problems in simulating the far fields, but then what??

Hi all, I am also working on the MIMO antenna project for my thesis and I am stuck on the same question. How can I write ECC formula in HFSS output variable window to obtain accurate results. I know the ECC formula as
but can't write appropriately in HFSS output window. Please help me...

type this equation in the expression box of output variables.output variable can be accessed :HFSS>>result>>output variables

(mag(conjg(S(1,1))*S(1,2)+conjg(S(2,1))*S(2,2)))^2/((1-mag(S(1,1))^2-mag(S(2,1))^2)*(1-mag(S(2,2))^2-mag(S(1,2))^2))

then click add and done

#9 post have an error for missing ^2 in the first part.

Excuse me
This is true
(mag(conjg(S(1,1))*S(1,2)+conjg(S(2,1))*S(2,2)))^2/((1-mag(S(1,1))^2-mag(S(2,1))^2)*(1-mag(S(2,2))^2-mag(S(1,2))^2))

Hey:
IN CST, you can go to Results---> Template based postprocessing---> select Farfield antenna properties---Diversity gain and correlation.
