How can I draw a 3d ellipse or ellipsoid shape in hfss?

For example:

What does search engine say?

  • Right-click on the "Project Manager" and choose "Insert," then select "3D Modeler."
  • In the 3D Modeler window, select the "Draw" menu and choose "Primitive." Then select "Ellipsoid
don't believe the search engine always. there is no ellipsoid function there.

she replies " Right-click on "3D Modeler" in the Project Manager, select "Draw," and then choose "Cylinder."
then "Edit," and select "Create Sheet Body." This essentially turns the cylinder into a sheet, Use the "Transform" operation to scale the sheet in one or more directions, effectively transforming it into an ellipsoid. Right-click on the sheet, select "Edit," and choose "Transform." Adjust the scaling factors to achieve the desired ellipsoid shape.

This is nonsense. If you start from a cylinder, you will never get an ellisoid, no matter what z scaling factor you try.

not working
Why not? Here is a post where that method seems to work:

nice one volker but doh.
Rotate the ellipse about the long axis to create the 3D object or define the 3D in cartesian or polar coordinates to create the ellipsoid. https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Ellipsoid

Barring any simple options, you can always create an equation-defined surface in HFSS (or two surfaces, and then merge them). The math might be slightly more tedious than inserting a primitive, but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.
