Hey Guys,

Anybody of you has knowledge of relatively cheap PIC programmer that includes PIC18F6720 or PIC18F8720 ?

The Universal progammer is rather expensive. For sure there must some kind of cheaper version out there.

Try Microchip PICKit2, it cost only $35 and it supports the chips you mentioned above.
 

Be warned that the ICD2 and PicKit2 are development programers and as such, should not be used for production code. Im sure a lot of people do though.
Qualified production programmers have a more complex algorythm and verify cycle using overvoltage and undervoltage routines.
 

I am confused now. My codes are for production use. Any options with good quality for production/development purposes with less than <$100.

hi neoaspilet11, I didnt mean to confuse you!
Microchip have information on the programming algorythms used for production code.
It also depends on your target market. Im not sure about consumer goods, but for something like Automotive, all aspects of the item need approvals, including the programmer.

what's the diffrence between production programming and experimental programming?
both are using the same algorithm!!
approval by whom?
microchip?
Automotive authority?
pls explain..
 

Its probably because that codes during development, code protect is disabled.

Normally in production, codes maybe protected so that it cannot be copied and reverse engineered for those who are willing to do so.
