micro controller based security system using sonar

I have to program a 6500 series SONAR module in order to scan a room. The sonar should be mounted on a stepper which will enables it to rotate. The sonar should detect any movement and notify me in a way. Any suggestions of the C++ codes to be used in order to achieve this?

are you planning to drive it directly from a PC or from a microcontroller?

if a microcontroller something along the lines of Microchip's Microstick would probably do

it has an onboard programmer and a header to plug into a breadboard for your own circuits froem the stepper motor etc
