allegro merge

Hii all....

Is there any option of merging two PCB's in allegro.
ie two PCB's in same .brd file.
If anyone knows please reply.

you could create a netlist with both pcbs in it and then bring in the 2nd pcb to the first with the sub drawing clip. as long as the origin of one is not coincident with the other. you should be ok

There is more to it than origin. One thing it can not have same ref.des.
Or if there are identical nets then you have to live with rats net showing or DRC indicating unconnected nets which you have to sort out whether is acceptable or not.

But is doable I have done boards which were mounted opposite each other so I laid out in the same file.

Can you please explain the procedure..
How should we draw the schematic then ?
How merge it in allegro...

How should we draw the schematic then ?

That should be obvious. You draw schematic as a single schematic IE no duplicates of ref des.

You net list as usual, then draw two board outlines separate from each other with their unique mechanical specifications. Then you have two boards in single file.
Place them and route them, in case of common nets you will end up with one or more rats nets which goes between two boards which can be ignored provided that you have made sure all other places that those nets go are routed.
Is as simple as that.
