Hello eadboarders, I'm going to design a very low cost 3AAA series Ni-Mh battery charger with a single led driver included. In these days I have studied how to charge safely NiMh batteries and I read this interesting article (Unfortunately no source code available on ST site).

**broken link removed**

I thought i could build the charger and the driver with the same philosophy using a current controlled-voltage buck dc/dc converter for battery charging and a current controlled led driver, both with discrete components (inductor, freewheeling diode, cap, and p-mos).

Do you think is this possible using a 16Mhz 8 bit microprocessor (10 bit ADC and PWM hardware available) in place of expensive battery chargers and current led driver ic?

Which topics should I pay attention to?

Thank you for your time,
Best regards
