making own crystal

i want to design a crystal with 8.480000 mhz.
can it be done with 74ls04?

The said chip 74LS04 is a Hex inverter. How can you make a crystal with it? You get various crystals with different frequencies. Is the said frequency 8.48000Mhz so critical? If No, you may use the nearest value available. If yes i think such critical value may not be available. I have read somewhere that you may grind the quartz crystal to get different frequencies. But you may need patience, a frequency counter, and a crystal checker circuit to check the output...Two of such links are given below...Cheers
