Hi,

We have an issue in initializing the MAC. Once the MAC is reset there is junk packet is coming out of XGMII Tx interface due to which MAC counter inside the IP is incremented by 1 which is not accountable. We want the MAC to be quiet once it got reset. We are in search of clues to identify the problem. Need help in this regard.

Thanks in advance!!

Do you have source code for the ip? If so, make sure the counter does not increment.

Secondly, junk packet comes out during reset or after reset?

IP is a protected verilog code from the vendor. So no chance to think about changing the logic. We are looking into specification given for us.
and the Junk packet is coming after the reset is removed.

Three things are possible.

The reset is not getting propagated in the design. This could happend if you do not hold the reset long enough
or
Reset polarity is incorrect
or
clock is not ticking during reset.

Please make sure the reset is actually done by doing either one or all of what i suggested.

If you can, please share the interface and specification so that i or other senior members can suggest more fined solution
