i have an lpc 2148 board having usb device connector
but how to connect a web cam or usb joy

I don't think it can be done with just the LPC2148.
Its USB controller can only act as a device (slave), not as a host (master).

change the controller for higher version lpc 23 series

best way for cam - hardware parallel interface. Try lpc23x, lpc24x
