low power consumption of 8051

low consumption 8051

hello friends,

I've been working with 8051 for the last 5 years, and this little uC never let me down. But now I've to develop a portable equipment and #A%T$M@E^L 8051 sinks lots of mA... is there any family or uC as easy to find and as cheap as 8051 that would have the same architeture but with much less current consumption?? And also very important, with a Great C compiller like K&#E*I@L one...

Re. your inquiries, I'd like to recommend you for PHILIPS one.
Re. the power compsumtion is depend on what compay's one you used.
Any away, PHILIPS, they have low power type of 8051 variations.
There are twon kinds available now, one is LPC76X-series and the other is LPC9XX-series.
LPC76Xs are already developed and proofed. LPC9XXs are brend new one, i.e. newly introduced series, but more improved and more imbeded functions and also respect to the power consumptions.
AND it's already supported with K@il's tools.

As you can guess, LPC9XX-series are hundreds types will be there, currentely, they finished 6 type of series.
If you use the K@il's tools, you can check that.

Take a look at the MPS430 family from TI. Of course these are not
x51 compatible. But there is at least a GCC port for that mcu.

You can switch between two clock frequency (for ex 20MHZ and 32KHZ)when you are at idle use lower clock rate for lower power consumption.

it very good MCU and very low power

other good can change Frq internal 2mhz,8mhz,16mhz ....
have internal osc

in 32khz cygnal core have lower 400uA

but cygnal product have some expencive
