I highly recommend "WirelessMAN: Inside the IEEE 802.16 Standard for Wireless Metropolitan Area Networks"

It is written by 802.16 committee memeber and the book gives a good review of the technology AND the history behind each parameter.

Of course, you can find other WiMAX book by academic researchers. To me, they are too general and just scratch the surface of WiMAX standard.
