I am looking for a floating point adder to use on a project in Quartus.
I would be much appreciated if anyone can help
thanks in advance

Re: floating point adder

You can find reference floating-point ALU designs and extract the addition instructions and hardware from there:

e.g. "Floating Point Unit" at www.opencores.org

Re: floating point adder

I have found an implementation of the floating point adder but Quartus doesn't compile a package.
The message i receive is
Error: Node instance instantiates undefined entity float.
The problem is that the package is compiled with modelsim but i want to use quartus because i will use some blocks too
Any ideas about the problem?

Re: floating point adder

Unfortunately i didn't find any help on the error.I have also installed the sp2 but it didn't help at all.Although Quartus is better than Max Plus it can't handle vhdl 100%.
But I have found a floating point adder implementation without packages which finally worked.
