LM7806 for 6V DC motor?

Taht should be your next step, first to see original concept. Test motor on 6V with 7806, watch how its running, measure current.

Then we go next.

If i use a transistor, then the max voltage i can get to the motor is 5.3v only. Is it that 6v minus transistor voltage drop?

The LM7806 is hot when the trimmer is turn to 0 ohm. That means it now drive direct from 6V.
I'm wondering why the LM7806 will become hot? Is it the current is too high?
