Linker error - Borland C

_myfunction defined in module myfile.c is duplicated in module myfile.c
_myvariable defined in module myfile.c is duplicated in module myfile.c

all the functions and variables that i have defined in myfile.c is reported as linker error. i have declared all as 'extern' in myfile.h. myfile.c is only a part of list of files that i have used in my project.

what could be reason for this.

compiler used - bcc v3.1
linker used - tlink v5.1
