I am using LTC4002 to charge series Li Ion (8.4V).

It changes fine. What is causing me the concern is when the charge is full or the external Vin as given in diagram is removed. The voltage from the battery flows into the Vcc of LTC4002. This would turnon the LTC and the battery might drain continuously.

How can I solve this or should I just leave it as it is.

Not to mention, the load is connected to the battery directly.

Hi,

Voltage is not drainig your battery. Current is drainig your battery.

In doubt it is always a good idea to read the datasheet.
Even on the first page two times is mentioned, that the draining current is as low as 10uA.

--> This is low enogh not to worry about.
