LED display 7x72 whit 16f877 and 4017

hi guys!
i need your opinion and help.
display is not whit led matrix.
can i control horizontal line just whit 7 pins of 16f877 and vertical whit 8 x 4017(each of 4017 controled 9 vertical lines of display and that is 72) or i must make segments on display.
if you need more information plz let me know

that is reason why i posted here and looking for your
opinion,i think same do you have any idea?
i check all topic before i posted this and i found just smll displays and maybe a few biger but not complite and whit full shematic

now i am trying to make this project can store data for display from pc in eeprom pic 16f877a.

if you just want to display the message scroll from right to left just add more register for store data and few change from beginning program.
