laptop usb port based simple pic programmer

Hi everybody!!!
I want to make a laptop usb port based pic16fxxxx programer,bcoz my laptop is 'HP COMPAQ 620' and there is no 9 port female serial port,only 15 pin VGA port and 3 USB.so I decide to make a simple usb based pic uC programmer bcoz I dont have sufficient money to bye pickit 2 or 3.so friend any idea how to make this?Also can I use this 15 pin female port to program my pic uC?

Hi,

If you search this forum you will find many pages for a simple diy pickit2 clone, many with pcb designs.

You need to program a chip for the Pk2 and again there are many crude programmers detailed, however have not seen one to work from a vga port ?
Perhaps you might be able to use a cheap usb to serial converter cable to make a jdm programmer?

If you have programmer of db-9 connector then you have add ic FT-232rl circuit with proper connection and use external power supply.

And also can be added to jdm by replacing coneector with 232rl and usb connector
