PowerCompile

In snps tools, PowerCompile is a independence tool? or it was included in other module?
What is its product-name? Help me. Tia

Re: PowerCompile

hi,
powercompile is included in designcompiler, you just need a license feature to use it .

Tia.
which version? vV2003.12?

Re: PowerCompile

It's embeded inside DC back from 2001 version.
But, it doesn't do a really good job.

What it really does is trying to find the register (flip-flop) can use
gated clock, and some datapath re-structure.

For next release; claimed by synopsys; they will have dual
library capability to consider leakage power.

Re: PowerCompile

low-power design is not achieved olny just through EDA tools. I have used the PowerCompiler, but it is not proved a good way to low-power design!

PowerCompile

Since most of the cell libraries don't provide enough of the power information, tool can not do too much of it.

PowerCompile

and how u do to reduce power?

PowerCompile

clock gate control
turn off power
can save power, is right?

PowerCompile

gated clock is the simplese and the most effective way by now.

PowerCompile

Why do u apt to the PrimePower? It is the more powerful.

Anybody have some VHDL examples to explain the power-reduction ?

PowerCompile

powercompiler could optimize your design related power
it also can calculate how much power ur chip use ....
