Hi,

I know PLL is used to generate clocks at higher frequencies than reference clock ... but is it used to generate sine waves too ?

thanks

At RF and microwaves the Phase-locked oscillators generate sinusoidal output, at lower frequency, rectangular output is typical. When you need a clean spectrum, use filters.
