PC on stand-by

Is it better to turn PC off or leave it on stand-by?
With WindowsXP it takes several minutes to get it on again.
Thanks.

Re: PC on stand-by

Yes, if you shut XP and then turn it on, it really takes a long time since it has to load lots of drivers. If you choose it to stand by, the monitor will turn off but the CPU is still on with previous settings still in it also, as if the PC is on "resting" mode only the power is ON. It really depends on you. Why don't you try to hibernate your PC instead, wherein you can turn it off and when you turn it on it would be back where you leave it to hibernate. No need to load all drivers again and is faster compared to turning it on from shutdown.

If you dont know how to manualy hibernate your computer here is how you set it up:

If you have SLEEP button on your keyboard you can go to Power Options in Control Panel and select HIBERNATE option on SLEEP.
Now if you press SLEEP button your computer goes BYE BYE ..

Re: PC on stand-by

To hibernate, just click the start button at the lower-left corner of the Windows screen, choose shut down, then when the dialog box appears asking you what do you want the computer to do, pull down the drop-down menu and choose hibernate and voila! your PC will enter hibernation.....
