I need to know if the FORTRAN Language still in use, even today, i mean, If it is Used in some particular application.

Re: FORTRAN

It is used in sometimes for scientific/engineering programs.
Otherwise, Intel would not sell its Visual Fortran:

Re: FORTRAN

If that comforts you (or not), meteorologic forcasts are still computed in fortran.

Re: FORTRAN

I´ve heard that FORTRAN is still used in military applications, is that true?

Re: FORTRAN

Hi,

Well, I know that many new programming languages has appeared, that was much easier than FORTRAN such as MATLAB. But still, when it comes to speed or large problems, I think FORTRAN is the best. Specially that it is designed with speed as a very importrant factor. I have heared that FORTRAN is only 20% less in performance than assembly language. That is why I learned it.
