Hello,

First time poster here.
I am currently working on a side project and would like to develop an IR remote control transmitter and receiver. I would like to have 3 or 4 channels (momentary on-off) using a Microchip PIC (probably 16F). The output of the receiver would probably go into another PIC or CPLD. I would also like to program the PIC in C (since I HATE assembly). I am a hardware engineer and software is just not my thing. I decided to learn C and not use PICBasic. I am also new to PICs, since I do a lot of work with CPLDs. I have been looking for examples on uncle google, but just cant find anything in C. Does anyone know where I could find any, or could provide example code?
Also another side question, and I hope this doesn't start a heated discussion, but should I order the Microchip PICkit2 or PICkit3?

Thanks!
